The 2G Spectrum Scam. was the biggest scam in modern India worth amount of Rs. 1.76 Lakh Crore.The scam was taken place in the year 2008, the time when 2G spectrum licenses were sold without auction for 122 circles to some private companies for Rs. 1,658 Cr. some beneficiary Accuse companies were The Swan Telecom, Unitech (which became “ Uninor ” after its stakes acquired by Telenor), Idea Cellular, Spice , Datacom (now Videocon Mobile), Tata Tele Services & Loop Telecom.

Late, another petition was filed by Advocate Prashant Bhushan to examine the CAG report on 2Gspectrum allocation.
Solicitor General Mr. Gopal Subramaniam was representing the government Initially, but later the Attorney General Mr. G.E. Vahanvati was represented the government’s case before the court. He has filed the affidavit on behalf of the P.M.

- The Licenses were awarded on the basis of “ First come, First served ”.
- Time Limit of Application was Insufficient It was direct violation of TRAI Norms)
- The License distribution was huge underpriced and this caused a loss of 1.76 Lakh Crore to the Government of India .
- After receiving the 2G Spectrum license many companies sold out their shares to the many Multi-National Corporations and the valuation of these companies increased dramatically.
For example, according to an study, Unitech bought its spectrum for Rs 1651 Cr. And sold 60% of its shares to Telenor (Norway) for Rs. 6120 Cr. Now the company value was 10,731 Cr.Without even a single subscriber there was such monstrous profit.(this example is for your understanding and the amount may differ) .
The 2G Spectrum scam was highlighted by Mr Vinod Rai,former CAG( Comptroller General of India ) and CVC PJ Thomas, soon after the auction based sale of 3G Spectrum.

Main Accuse was the former Telecom Minister A. Raja later He was forced to resign from his post on Nov. 14, 2010, He was a Member of Parliament from Nilgiris constituency, Tamil Nadu. He was the Cabinet Minister in the Ministry of Communication and Information technology.He is a member of DMK (Dravid Munnetra Kazhagam),a party in the UPA (United Progressive Alliance ).
fomer Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh was also facing the problem as he defended Accuse A. Raja . He said that "All the procedures regarding 2G Spectrum License distribution were executed after his consent. "
CBI had also Ms. Kanimozhi, then Telecom Secretary Siddhartha Behura, Mr. Raja's former private secretary R.K. Chandolia, Unitech Wireless Managing Director Sanjay Chandra, Swan Telecom director and DB Realty MD Vinod Goenka, and Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group’s (RADAG) Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara, Swan telecom promoters Shahid Usman Balwa and Vinod Goenka, directors of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt. Ltd. Asif Balwa and Rajiv Agarwal, Bollywood producer Karim Morani, Kalaignar TV director Sharad Kumar.

The case was filed by Mr. Subramanian Swamy, who was the President of Janta Party (merged in Bhartiya Janta Party ) , for the inquiry into the 2G scam.The case was stated before the bench of Justice G.S. Singhvi and Justice A.K. Ganguly.
